The first song of Milan Luthria's film Baadshaho is finally here and 'Mere Rashke Qamar' is a soothing sufi romantic number sung by the soulful voices of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and his nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The poetic lyrics are full of meaning, the song's main line Mere Rashke Qamar itself translates into 'the moon is also jealous of your beauty'.

Set in the background of the 1975 Emergency, the song is depicted on the characters of Ileana D'Cruz and Ajay Devgn and shows their budding romance. The chemistry between the duo is palpable in the song, Ileana looks to be royalty and Ajay returns to an often-visited persona of a rugged man.

The original song 'Mere Rashke Qamar' was sung by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in 2014, but has been tastefully reinvented by music composer Tanishk Bagchi, ensuring that the song retains the original essence but has a fresh feel. The lyricist Manoj Muntashir has played around with the original lyrics to make the song fit the situation in Baadshaho.

Baadshaho came in with a bang, as the new look for each of the featured stars was revealed in a series of consecutive days. The movie stars Emraan Hashmi, Esha Gupta, Vidyut Jammwal and Sanjay Mishra apart from Ajay and Ileana.
