Are You Depressed? Binge-Watching Might Be The Cause!

People when immersed in a captivating episode of 'Game of Thrones' or 'Friends' if disturbed are ready to kill. They are so busy in observing the lives of these fictional characters that they miss out on their own lives. 

Socialising on weekends is a far away thought when picking up a call becomes a task while staring at the television screen. If you are also a part of this group, then you have just officially qualified as a Binge-watcher and you can be depressed!

Experts say that watching two to six episodes of a sitcom in one sitting qualifies as binge-watching. People's addiction to a particular show can reach a level where they might be unwilling to leave their couches for more than 10 hours. 

Binge-watching reportedly heightens your stress and anxiety levels leading to depression. Watching Television for long hours can become a serious health concern which needs to be addressed widely. It can wear the viewer out, both emotionally and cognitively.

A University of Toledo report suggests that 35 percent of binge-watchers fall prey to post-binge watch depression. Once the binge watching is stopped, the watcher is more likely to feel lonely, depressed and unable to control oneself's behaviour. 

In order to cure the habit of binge-watching, it is suggested to give oneself a considerable amount of break after watching each episode and instead of sitting idle, try to get involved in any other physical or mental activity.
