Apple on Tuesday released a new update to its operating system to address the crash that a Telugu language character bug was causing in several devices. The update has been rolled out for all four of its operating systems iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and macOS.
iOS 11.2.6 is the eleventh update to the iOS 11.
The iOS 11.2.6 update can be downloaded on all eligible devices over-the-air. To access the update, users need to go to Settings --> General --> Software Update.
Along with iOS 11.2.6, Apple has released watchOS 4.2.3, tvOS 11.2.6, and macOS High Sierra 10.13.3.
The Telugu character when opened on any iPhone that operated on 11.2.5 caused apps including native ones and at times third-party apps to crash. In many cases, the phone went back to the login screen asking users to enter their PIN.
It was later noticed that the bug hampered other Apple devices too, running on current versions of its operating system: iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, watchOS 4, and tvOS 11.
The update note on all the four platforms read the following:
Fixes an issue where using certain character sequences could cause apps to crash
Fixes an issue where some third-party apps could fail to connect to external accessories
