Tech giant Apple has issued a patch after security vulnerabilities were identified by researchers when a new method of hacking surfaced.
The phone of a UAE dissenter, Ahmed Mansoor, was recently targeted which revealed the said security hole. Mansoor had recieved a text message that invited him to click on a web link, which he sent to Citizen Lab researchers at the University of Toronto.

There, it was revealed that the link would install a certain app which would exploit the previously unknown security hole. The findings were then sent to Apple, which created a patch to fix the issue. The patch was made available as an automatic update for iPhone 6 users, as confirmed by the company spokesperson Fred Sainz.
The research team have accredited the hack to an Israeli company, NSO group.
