As technology advancements increase in leaps and bounds, so does the use of outer space for advancements down on Earth, in such a situation, any major solar storm would have the capacity to shut down electric grids, damage supply chains and global communication services, resulting in $20 trillion worth of damage and years of work for recovery.

With further technological development, the danger posed by solar flares will increase exponentially. A solar flare that can cause damage of at least $10 trillion has a 10 percent chance of hitting the Earth in the next decade, and a stronger flare that would cause $20 trillion is expected in next 150 years.

To protect against any major solar storm, US scientists have proposed setting up a massive 'magnetic deflector' which would be placed as a shield between the Earth and sun and would be capable of diverting any harmful emissions away from our planet.

The 'shield' that has been proposed, would consist of a 1 lakh ton copper coil that would use magnetic fields and the concept of Lorentz force to deflect harmful particles from the sun away from Earth.

The magnetic deflector shield would be set up at a distance of 329,000 km (205,000 miles) from Earth and would be able to protect the planet using only comparatively small deflection.

Although such a project would not be cheap, the costs would be far less than the expense it would require to repair the damage caused by a catastrophic solar storm.

Experts have pegged the cost of launching the shield from Earth to space at around $100 billion, although another option would be to construct the shield directly in space.

Are these agencies totally insane, just put an end to your space exploration missions with immediate effect, which is equivalent to witchcraft causing unecessary quantum ripple and losses. I have a message for all sick space agencies, and alerted many to your intrusion....
