Yet Another Milestone For Dhoni, As He Becomes 5th Indian Batsman To Score 10,000 ODI Runs

Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni contributed well with his 51-runs knock and also shared a 137-run fourth wicket stand with Rohit against Australia in the 1st ODI but eventually failed to take the men-in-blue over the line.

Legendary wicket-keeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni during his innings achieved yet another milestone as the veteran became the 5th batsman for India to reach the elusive 10,000-run mark in One-Day Internationals (ODIs).

Dhoni, who was missing the feat by just a run, and he entered the 10,000th club with a single off Jhye Richardson in the ongoing first ODI between India and Australia.

The Ranchi stumper had earlier accumulated a total of 10,173 runs in the 50-over format during a home series against West Indies in October 2018 however, the record also contained the 174 runs, which he smashed against the Africa XI, while representing the Asia XI in a three-match rubber in 2007.

Before MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli had scored 10,000 ODI runs for India. Overall, Dhoni is the 12th player in the history of ODI cricket to reach the 10,000-run club.

It is learnt that Dhoni is the fourth quickest to the landmark in terms of innings - after Tendulkar, Ganguly, Ponting (266) and Kallis (272). The Ranchi superstar made his debut against Bangladesh on December 23, 2004 but was run out for a duck.
