Sirmur Cup 2018: Jindal Panthers/Garcha Hotels Loses To Rajnigandha Achievers 8-10 In Finals

The exciting fifteenth edition of the Vodafone Sirmur Cup reached its culmination as Rajnigandha Achievers lifted the coveted trophy home by beating Jindal Panthers/Garcha Hotels in the finals at Rajasthan Polo Club Ground, Jaipur on Sunday, February 4, 2018.

With both the teams fighting to establish their dominance, the watch-worthy match created history. Having top players in their respective teams, the Panthers nor the Achievers left any stone unturned to win the 14-goal tournament.

Within the first five minutes of the finale match, both the teams were at par but Rajnigandha Achievers soon took a 2-1 lead, thanks to Abhimanyu Pathak's goal. Panthers' Simran Shergill soon equated the score but Siddhant Sharma's goal provided their team with a 3-2 lead.

Followed by Matthew Perry's second goal, Abhimanyu Pathak ended the second chucker with a smashing goal. Panthers' were finally able to breathe as Manuel Rodriguez Llorente made team's third goal but Achievers' 2 quick goals created a huge gap of 4 goals between the two.

Captain Naveen Jindal's and Siddhant Sharma's respective cracking goals took the match to 8-4, followed by Simran Shergill's two back-to-back goals. Chucker 4 ended with the Achievers at 9-7 lead. Matthew Perry's final strike won his team the prestigious tournament by 10-8.

The prestigious tournament opened on January 30 with an eye-popping match between Chandna Group and Vodafone Royals, which the latter won by 5-3. Interestingly, the Jindal Panthers already defeated the Rajnigandha Achievers by 7-6 on Day 1 of the tournament.

The tournament progressed with Jindal Panthers/Garcha Hotels and Rajnigandha Achievers defeating Chandna Polo and Vodafone Royals respectively to reach the finals. The finale match organised by Vodafone India in association with the Rajasthan Polo Club was surely a visual treat for Polo enthusiasts.
