Former India skipper and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is adorned by a zillion fans for leading India through the 2011 World Cup. Among the many Dhoni supporters, badminton star and world number 3 Kidambi Srikanth is also an ardent Dhoni fan.

The Commonwealth Games silver medalist Srikanth was in for a pleasant surprise when he received an autographed bat by Dhoni on Sunday. "Thank you MSD for the wonderful gift and can't tell how happy I am. This just made my day. #MSDhoni #fanmoment", he captioned his post on Facebook.

Head of the BCCI selection committee MSK Prasad, who has adored the badminton star's father since childhood met him on Friday and handed him a personally autographed bat from MS Dhoni. He had promised Srikanth was getting him a gift from Dhoni if he reached the top level in badminton.

He recently opted out from participating in Thomas Cup to focus on the 2018 Asian Games. After ascending to the first position, Srikanth climbed down to the third spot in the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) earlier this month.

Viktor Axelsen of Denmark is at the top spot followed by South Korean Son Wan Ho. Srikanth is currently on 74,135 points while Son has 74,670. Axelsen has a sizeable lead at the top with 77,570 points. Srikanth's compatriot HS Prannoy rose two rungs to take the eighth spot.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has been leading his team Chennai Super Kings IPL 2018 as they have qualified for the playoffs. Dhoni has also been prolific with the bat amassing 430 runs in 13 matches at an astonishing batting average of 86.00.
