Shikhar Dhawan has been called in to replace Murali Vijay for the Test Series against Sri Lanka.

Vijay has been ruled out of the three match test series following his injury.

The BCCI confirmed the news through a media release.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Monday named Shikhar Dhawan as the replacement for injured Murali Vijay in the Test team, which is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series.

Shikhar Dhawan has been in really good form since the Champions Trophy but despite that, he was left out of the team for the Lanka tour. Abhinav Mukund is another opening batsman that India has and he could open the innings with K.L. Rahul. Rahul is also returning from an injury and it will be interesting to see who gets a chance in the playing eleven.

Vijay suffered a wrist injury during Australia’s tour of India and "has complained of pain in his right wrist while playing a preparatory match", read the BCCI's press release.
