Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has often associated with himself with various causes in addition to the advertisements he occasionally appears in. However, one fitness campaign the God of Cricket launched landed into controversy on the micro-blogging portal Twitter and he was forced to withdraw the campaign altogether.

On Monday morning, Sachin tweeted "Have friends with many excuses to not get fit? Tag them using #NoExcuses with their cities & mobile no & I may call to give them a pep talk!"

Following Sachin's message, hundreds tweeted their friends' names, cities and phone numbers, while some tweeted their own details as well!

Although the message was posted with good intentions it's likely that Sachin did not consider the consequences of private details being shared on such a public and easily accessible platform.

According to Twitter policy, users are not allowed to share such personal, identifying details on their public platform which is effectively a data breech.

"Posting another person’s private and confidential information is a violation of the Twitter Rules. Some examples of private and confidential information include: credit card information, social security or other national identity numbers, addresses or locations that are considered and treated as private, non-public, personal phone numbers," states the Twitter policy.

By Monday evening, Sachin's tweet was deleted and the campaign came to an abrupt end.
