Rivalries Set Aside As Football World Unites In Wishing Speedy Recovery For Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson had to be rushed for an emergency surgery on Saturday for brain haemorrhage. The scot was admitted at the Salford Royal Hospital where he is recovering.

Manchester United FC confirmed the news on Twitter and wrote, “Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery today for a brain haemorrhage. The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to aid his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter.”

As news broke on Twitter, everyone from the world of football shared wishes for a quick recovery of one of the greatest coach of the era.

Chelsea Football Club wrote, “This evening, everybody at Chelsea FC sends our best wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson for a full and swift recovery following emergency surgery.”

Archrivals Liverpool too wished Ferguson full recovery. Immediately after the news of Ferguson’s surgery broke, Liverpool issued a statement that reads, “The thoughts of everyone at Liverpool Football Club are with Sir Alex Ferguson and his family following the news that the former Manchester United manager is ill in hospital. A great rival but also a great friend who supported this club during its most difficult time, it is hoped that Sir Alex will make a full recovery.”

Liverpool said it would offer its full support to Manchester United and Ferguson’s family.

Manchester City FC used the hashtag #FootballFamily and wrote, “Everyone at Manchester City wishes Sir Alex Ferguson a full and speedy recovery after his surgery.”

FC Barcelona too wishes a speedy recovery for Sir Alex.
