Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's celebratory mood of CSK's qualification for playoffs turned sour when the news of his wife Reeva Solanki allegedly getting assaulted by a police constable following a minor accident on Monday reached him.

Reportedly, Reena was driving her BMW in Gujarat's Jamnagar when the car hit the motorcycle of a police constable at Saru Section road. Enraged by the incident, the cop identified as Sanjay Ahir physically assaulted the cricketer's wife.

"The policeman physically assaulted Riva Jadeja after her car hit his motorbike. We are providing all possible help to her and will take strict action against the policeman," Pradeep Sejul, Jamnagar district Superintendent of Police, told PTI.

A witness claimed that the policeman had "brutally" thrashed Reena. "The policeman mercilessly thrashed Reeva and even pulled her hair during an altercation. We saved her from his clutches," Vijaysinh Chavda told reporters.

The unfortunate incident ignited a massive backlash by Jadeja fans on Twitter. They demanded a strict and immediate action against the policeman for assaulting a lady. A reaction from Ravindra Jadeja concerning the incident is yet awaited.

Chennai will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the first qualifier on Tuesday, May 22. Upon winning, they will go to the finals which will be held on Sunday, otherwise will have to take on the winner of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals on Friday.
