Teenage sensation and Commonwealth Games 2018 Gold Medallist Manu Bhaker on Wednesday insisted that she will be competing at the junior shooting event as well as in the senior tournaments for the next four years.
Bhaker, who also won a gold medal in her debut ISSF World Cup in Mexico last month said in an interview to PTI, "I have four more years left in junior and I plan to shoot all these four years. I want to shoot both junior and senior simultaneously and gain as much experience as possible. I take everything as an experience, getting a chance to participate in every event is something I take very seriously."
She added, “Asian Games is going to be a different challenge with different countries, it is not necessary that we will win every time, but getting up strongly after going down is what matters eventually and your character comes through."
The rationale behind her choice is that more competition at the expense of training means more opportunities to experience match pressure and challenging situations.
After a commanding display at the last two competitive events, Bhaker and the entire shooting fraternity will be having their eyes set on the upcoming Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta and Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo.
