Former England International and Kerela Blasters head coach David James said that co-owner Sachin Tendulkar brought calmness to younger players in the squad by sharing his experiences.

"Sachin Tendulkar brings in a lot of calmness in the side by sharing his playing day experiences. He does it when the team's chips are down," he told the reporters on the eve of their last ISL league match against Bengaluru FC on Thursday.

With a disappointing start to the ISL season and chances to qualify for play-off looking bleak, David James took the role of coach at Kerela Blasters as he guides the team out of stormy waters. The team now has 25 points from 17 games and if they win the next one, their chances to make the qualifiers will be quite high.

James also shared an anecdote about the final loss against Mumbai City FC in 2014. The goalkeeper at the time, he kept beating himself up about conceding the winning goal in the 94th minute of the game. Sachin, at the time, consoled him and related to him by sharing a similar incident of 2010 IPL season, where his team Mumbai Indians lost to Chennai Super Kings.

James, who has also played for current Premier League leaders Manchester City and Liverpool believes Sachin will again play a similar role if they win the match against table-toppers Bengaluru FC on Thursday.
