Virat Kohli led-Men in Blue comprehensively emerged victorious in the 3rd ODI against Australia to win the three-match series by 2-1.

India beat Australia by 7-wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni led the Indian team from the front as he scored yet another half-century to take his team over the line. Dhoni was well supported by Kedar Jadhav who led the charge and scored a sparkling fifty.

Yuzvendra Chahal became Man Of The Match for his clinical bowling figure 6/42 in 10 overs.

MS Dhoni was chosen for the Man Of The Series Award for his outstanding batting performance in the series.

During the presentation, Dhoni said, "It was a slow wicket, so it was difficult to hit whenever you wanted to. No point going after the bowlers who were bowling well, so we wanted to take it deep and that was the plan."

"Kedar did a great job in executing. I am happy to bat at any number. The important thing is where the team needs me. I can't say I can't bat at No. 6 after playing 14 years," he added.

Chasing a challenging total of 230 runs in the 50-overs, team India rode high on MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav who scored 87* and 61* respectively.

Dhoni also became the highest averaged batsman in the successful run chase.

The Men in Blue didn't get a solid start with the opener as Rohit Sharma departed very early on a score of 09 runs in 17 balls. Dhawan also joined his partner after scoring 23 runs in 46 balls.

After the departure of Rohit, Kohli then strung a 44-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan. Kohli was looking in good touch and hitting the ball really well but got out for 46 after playing a poor shot against Richardson.

But Dhoni held the Indian run-chase together from one end. He along with Jadhav added 121 runs for the fourth wicket, taking India across the line with four balls to spare.

The Australian bowlers had a poor outing as none of them except Jhye Richardson were able to make any real impact.

Virat Kohli credit the whole team for the win he said "It wasn't a great wicket to bat on, so we had to take it deep, but they were professional in getting the job done. We were a bit nervous but two set batsmen in knew exactly what they wanted to do. We wanted to get in a good combination."

He further said "We wanted to give Kuldeep a rest and we don't want to be too predictable as well. Chahal came in and bowled beautifully. 6/42 was magnificent. Kedar with bat and ball is always handy. We have been here for a long time. It's been an amazing tour for us. We drew the T20 series, won the Test and the ODI series. If someone gave me these results before the tour I would have taken it with both hands."

"I am really grateful and proud of the side. It was a collective effort. We are feeling confident and balanced as a side with the World Cup in mind. Few games against New Zealand and few more back home to strengthen the areas that we need to work on as a team," Kohli added.
