Sourav Ganguly is well known for his dominant attitude since the days of his captaincy. During the selection of the Indian Head Coach, Sourav Ganguly was still not convinced about Shastri being right for the job.

"Sourav was brought around and convinced about Ravi after it was agreed that Zaheer would be made the bowling coach. Zaheer is such a name that no one could have possibly objected to due to his repertoire of knowledge and a fantastic relation with the current crop," a BCCI official was quoted to be saying by media.

The source further added, "Khan is a contemporary cricketer who assumed the mentoring role to a young fast bowling unit even during his playing days with India. His inputs will be of immense value to our young fast bowlers, who have shown tremendous potential in the last couple of years."

We can recall what had happened last time when Ravi Shastri applied for the job in 2016 as Ganguly was not happy with his unprofessional behaviour leading to a public fall out between the two of them.

Ganguly is a member of the CAC along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman and they together chose Shastri, Dravid and Zaheer for different roles with the Indian Team.
