In the most anticipated sports event of the time, England has scored a competitive total of 228 runs for the loss of 7 wickets against India in the final of the ICC Women's World Cup at the Lord's Cricket Ground here on Sunday.

The three-time champions England played the entire 50 overs to give the rival India a tuff score. The team started off great keeping their wickets in hand. However, as times forced the team to come out of their safe zones and score, the scope for England looked bleak as they consecutively lost 3 wickets in the span of the next 10 overs.their  core the posted a competitive total of 228 for seven in 50 overs against India in the final of the ICC Women's World Cup at the Lord's Cricket Ground here on Sunday.

England's 228 runs was only possible with the major contribution of Natalie Sciver (51), Sarah Taylor (45) and Katherine Brunt (34).

India on the other side also kept their opponents at bay snatching wickets every now and then. Veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami had the most successful inning bagging 3/23, while spinner Poonam Yadav also maintained pressure on the rival team with her 2/36.

In the second inning, India led the field with a conservative start gaining only one run in the first over, however, their approach seems to fail as they lost their first wicket in the second over anyway.

So far Striker Poonam Raut and Captain Mithali Raj have taken the rains leading a stable inning to the 10th over with no extra loss.
