Defending champion Roger Federer has entered into his 43rd Grand Slam Semi-finals by knocking out his arch-rival Tomas Berdych by 7-6, 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday. The second seed marked his victory within 2 hours and 14 minutes of the game at the Rod Laver Arena.

Federer will now face South Korean Chung Hyeon on Friday in the semi-finals, his 14th Australian Open semi-final to be exact. However, Chung can't be taken lightly as his past record showcases great potential in the unseeded player who has thrashed Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev to reach this stage.

Another reason for celebration could be that the latest victory marked Federer's 92nd win in 105 matches he played in Melbourne making Australian Open his most successful Grand Slam in terms of matches won. "I'm happy I got out of the first set. It ended up being the key to the match," he expressed.

After winning 14 out of 14 quarter-finals, Roger is yet to drop a single set in Melbourne. "That's why I was under pressure. It was definitely very close, the turning point, and it ended up being for the entire match," he noted.

In the post-match conference, Roger was all praises for his semi-final opponent. He admitted, " He's incredibly impressive in his movement, he reminds me a lot of Novak the way he is able to slide forehand and backhand and use the hardcourt as a clay court."

The Swiss legend was unable to save the opening service game and fell behind by 2-5 but made a comeback in the ninth game and brought the first set into a tiebreaker. After claiming 5 sets, he took up an audacious drop shot for the tiebreaker. The last year's winner broke Czech after 90 minutes.
