Medak: 3-Year-Old Boy Falls Into Borewell, Dies

A three-year-old boy who fell fell into an abandoned borewell while playing near his house early on Saturday morning in Bommareddygudem thanda in Pulkal mandal of Medak district, has died reported ANI.
Despite rescue efforts that began around 9 am on Saturday, the boy could not be saved.
The boy, Rakesh, was believed to be stuck at a depth of about 33 feet in the borewell.
According to reports, the hole was left uncovered after a local farmer had the drillers abandon the well after not finding any water even after reaching a depth of 150 feet.
At about 8:45 am, the boy's mother realised that he was missing, following which the couple searched for him and found that he has fallen into the bore well.
Police, Revenue, Women and Child Development officials, along with a medical team, arrived at the spot after receiving information and started rescue operations.
The rescue team estimated that the child to be lying at a depth of 40 feet and was supplying oxygen to him through pipes. The land around the borewell is being dug to reach the boy.
By early evening, eight big and small earth moving machines managed to dig a 7 foot deep trench next to the borewell as the officials attempted to reach the depth where the boy was lodged in the well. However, late in the evening, the diggers hit a sheet of rock that halted operations for some time.
