Mumbai police filed an FIR on Wednesday against actor Alok Nath under section 376 of the Indian penal code (IPC) on the basis of allegations of rape by writer Vinta Nanda.
The victim first made the allegations on October 8 on Facebook in which she claimed that her drinks were spiked by the actor after which he raped her 19 years ago when they were working together in a show.
Furthermore, she said that the path has all her shows shut down which resulted later to the closure of her production house.
After Vinta’s post on facebook, Alok Nath wanted to file a defamation case against her but Bombay city civil and sessions court rejected their appeal saying that they couldn’t be considered as defamed on the basis of a Facebook post.
After Vinta’s confession, two other women accused the actor of sexual harassment.
Alok Nath was also debarred from cine & tv artists association (CINTAA) former this month. According to media reports the body said, "In view of the various allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Mr Alok Nath, after due diligence and consideration, the Exec. Committee of #cintaa has decided to expel him from the Association."
