'Your Vote Is A Weapon, Don’t Get Misled,' Priyanka Gandhi Appeals In Gandhi Nagar

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday launched her first ever political rally ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi were also present at the event in Gandhinagar district hours after the Congress Working Committee meeting.

Speaking to voters in Gandhinagar, Priyanka said, “I want to speak from my heart. There is no bigger patriotism than to be an aware citizen, your awareness is a weapon, your vote is a weapon… Only you can protect the country.”

"Gujarat is in no way less than the struggle for Independence. “In this, you are going to decide your future,” she said, urging people to not get distracted by “needless issues,” she added.

At the rally, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the BJP of practising divisive politics.

She further said, “What is happening in the country today makes me sad,” she said, accusing the BJP of spreading hatred and destroying institutions."

“Our institutions are being destroyed. Wherever you see, hatred is being spread. Nothing matters more to us that you and I protect this nation, work for it and move forward together,” Priyanka added.

Priyanka Gandhi said there will be attempts to distract the electorate but people must ask the right questions.

“Think hard before taking a decision,” she appealed.

Priyanka Gandhi gave her audience a few questions that they should be asking.

“Those who talk big in front of you, where are the 2 crore jobs he promised? What about the Rs 15 lakh he promised? What about women’s safety?” she said.

"Ask the right questions. Many issues will be raked up before this elections but your awareness is your service to the nation," she said.

"Raise the right issues, ask the right questions, this country is yours. This is a country of farmers. This is a country of the youth. You can protect this nation."
