What Happened In Karnataka Yesterday Was A Win For Democracy: Rajinikanth

Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday called the Karnataka Floor test and the scenario that led to the resignation of BS Yeddyurappa a win for democracy. The superstar who has been making baby steps in the political arena thanked the Supreme Court of India for upholding democracy. He also condemned the decision of Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala calling BJP to form the Government a mockery of democracy.

“What happened in Karnataka yesterday was a win for democracy. BJP asking for some more time and Governor giving 15 days time was a mockery of democracy. I would like to thank Supreme Court for its order, which upheld the democracy.” ANI quoted him saying.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Women’s wing of Rajini Makkal Mandram, the superstar turned politician said, “The Karnataka government, whichever party comes to power, should implement the Supreme Court orders on the Cauvery water in its full letter and spirit. Let us not get into the technicalities of whether it is going to be an authority or a board. The court has given a clear ruling," he said.

Asked about plans for the 2019 elections and the possibility of entering into an alliance he said, “The decision for contesting elections in 2019 will be taken at the time when the elections are announced. The party has not yet been launched, but we are ready for anything. Also, it is too early to talk about any kind of alliance.”
