A part of an illegal factory collapsed after the blast inside the industrial unit at Sudarshan Park in West Delhi’s Moti Nagar on late Thursday night.
At least 7 people were declared dead and over eight people were rescued from the debris and were immediately sent to a nearby hospital.
According to media reports, the police said that the owner of the “factory” was among the injured.
A National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) official also added that there is no possibility of anyone being repressed in the building.

Further report informed that the number of people directly affected in the incident remained unclear.
Monika Bhardwaj, the deputy commissioner of police (west), said there were at least 18 people in the two structures.
“The dead include a child and the rest are men. These include some people who were occupying a scrapyard located immediately next door. All the dead people, barring one, have been identified. The injured include a woman and the owner, Ankit Gupta,” she said.
A case has been registered against the owner of the factory under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the matter is being probed.
Along with police and a Delhi Fire Service team, an NDRF team is also at the spot carrying out rescue operations in full swing.
