Despite full precautions from the security forces and Haryana police, violence erupted in the Phulka village of Sirsa ahead of the sentencing of self-proclaimed godman Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

According to reports, 2 vehicles were torched in Sirsa district of Haryana.

No injuries have so far been reported.

At least 28 companies of paramilitary troops have been stationed in Rohtak with the Army forces on standby. Entry to the district has been restricted and Dera followers barred, while nearly 30,000 followers were removed from the Dera Sacha Sauda headquarters in Sirsa on Sunday evening itself.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim was found guilty of rape and criminal intimidation of 2 female disciples in 2002 and was convicted on Friday triggering massive protests from Dera followers who resorted to violence and arson in Haryana, Punjab and even areas of Delhi. At least 38 people were killed and more than 200 injured in the ensuing violence, following which Ram Rahim was airlifted to Rohtak's Sunaria jail.
