Ahead of State Assembly Elections, BJP led State Government will kick-start its Vikas Yatra on Saturday. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh will jointly flag off the yatra from the Naxal hotbed of Dantewada.

As per the Chief Minister, the yatra aims at showcasing the development of the state in the last 15 years under the Raman Singh Government. The yatra also aims to highlight the failure of Singh’s predecessors in development and law and order.

Speaking to reporters, Raman Singh said, “This Vikas yatra is to tell people about the development the state has witnessed. We will also work to further increase the growth of the state in coming days. Those who are talking against development means they are talking against the people.”

As per reports, 55 lakh smartphones are to be distributed among youth under the Sanchar Kranti Yojana of the Government. This will take place in the second phase of the Vikas Yatra.

The Congress Party too has launched its counter campaign named the ‘Vikas Khojo (Find the development) Yatra’ that aims at exposing the developmental record of Raman Singh Government.

State Congress President Bhupesh Baghel and senior Congress leader PL Punia started the yatra from Chief Minister Raman Singh’s constituency.

Chattisgarh Congress has accused the BJP of using taxpayer money for their own campaign. Baghel has invited BJP leaders to his yatra “so that they learn the difference between Jumla auditing and social auditing.”

Congress President Rahul Gandhi too is expected to tour the state in the next week
