The ATS statement added, "He was staying in this region since 2011 and frequently traveled to Saharanpur and Deoband in particular. During questioning, he revealed that his main task was to settle the members of ABT in India by providing them with fake Aadhaar IDs and other documents."

Other items used in creating fake IDs were recovered from the suspect, such as fake stamps of the village pradhans, district election officer, and other administrative authorities.

Police from three districts, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli have launched massive search operations to nab other sleeping modules active in the region that were in touch with Abdullah.

The TRAC (Terrorism, Research & Analysis Consortium),  has described ABT is an al Qaida-inspired Islamic extremist group in Bangladesh which holds objectives to radicalise youth of Bangladesh, incite active participation in local jihad and seek control of areas in Bangladesh. The group reportedly uses cyberspace extensively to propagate its jihadist ideology and has also used mosques in propagating its ideologies.
