Two Lashkar Terrorists Killed In Anantnag

Two Top Lashkar terrorists Bashir Lashkari and Azad Malik were killed in an encounter in Anantnag.

They were gunned down by security forces after they were trapped in a cordon in Brenti Village in Anantnag district. The Jammu and Kashmir police had announced a bounty of Rs 10 lakh for Bashir Lashkari after he orchestrated an attack which led to the death of seven policemen on June 17.

Lashkari, a resident of Sopshali Kokernag, was recruited by the militant outfit on October 2, 2015. Categorised as an A++ militant, Lashkari was the outfit’s commander in Anantnag district.

The terrorists were reported to be using civilians as human shields during the hours-long encounter that began in the morning. However, all of them were rescued before the final assault began on the terrorists.

“The encounter is over,” Director General of Police SP Vaid told PTI.

Two civilians, 44-year-old Tahira and 21-year-old Shadab Ahmad Chopan, were also killed during the operation in Brenti-Batpora village in Dialgam area of the district, police said.

A police spokesman said the militants were using civilians as human shields.
