Recent inputs shared by the Intelligence Bureau with the Delhi police suggest that terrorists are planning a strike at one of the most popular hang-outs in Delhi - Hauz Khas Village. According to reports, banned terror outfits in India are targeting foreign nationals in the Capital, especially in popular restaurants and cafes, such as those in Hauz Khas Village.

Special teams have been set up to monitor the movement of people visiting Hauz Khas Village and police deployment has also been stepped up as there is a likelihood that terrorists would make a reconnaissance trip ahead of the actual attack.

All the restaurants and cafes in the Hauz Khas Village area have been asked to keep a close watch on monitoring rooms of CCTV cameras and to contact the police regarding any suspicious person or item. Those restaurants frequented by foreign nationals have been identified and additional security has been provided.

Metal detectors will likely be installed at the entry and exit points of Hauz Khas Village and at parking areas.

"Police have stepped up security measures at Hauz Khas Village in view of recent incidents of terror attacks on foreign tourists in various European countries. The Hauz Khas Village welcomes a large number of foreigners every day who visit for fine dining and arts/craft experience," said Ishwar Singh, DCP (South) was quoted by Mail Today as saying.

Another possible target that has been identified is the DLF Promenade Mall in Vasunt Kunj as it is also frequented by foreign nationals. Security has been increased in the mall and in surrounding areas.
