Siddharth Handa is the man who lost out on a senior post because of a spelling error. The story here is that a misspelt name in the government rolls ended up in delaying his posting which eventually led to him losing out on a senior post.

Yashovardhan Azad the information commissioner has issued a show cause notice to the public information officer for the delay in response to Handa's RTI application.

It is being reported that an order has been placed while noting the "unjust mental agony" and "pecuniary loss" suffered by Handa, has sought to know why he shouldn't be entitled to compensation by DSSSB.

The order adds, "The Noticee is directed to explain why penalty to the tune of Rs 25,000 should not be imposed upon him for causing deliberate obstruction to the flow of information and also explain why a compensation to the tune of Rs 3 lakh should not be awarded to the applicant, by the DSSSB."

Handa has filed RTI's multiple times but still, he has not got an answer about the situation till now and when this finally came in front of Azad he decided to take action on the matter.

The public information officer comes in for special censure in the order, with Azad adding, "In fact, the concerned PIO did not even bother to appear before the Commission and explain the cause of such inordinate delay in taking remedial measure."
