Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday denies following the court’s verdict in the Ram Mandir case saying they didn’t protest with the Supreme Court’s permission.

The Shiv Sena Leader in his statement said the Shiv Sena activists did not consider the Supreme Court’s verdict in the case relevant to their demand of reconstruction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

The ANI quoted Sanjay Raut saying, “Hum court ko nahi maante is maamle(Ram Mandir matter) mein, court se pooch ke andolan nahi kiya tha.” (We did not protest for a Ram Mandir with the court’s permission)

The quote comes in line with the Shiv Sena’s long standing demand of reconstructing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Earlier in May, a CBI court frames charges against senior BJP leaders, including LK Advani, Uma Bharti and Murli Manohar Joshi, for demolishing the Babari Masjid.

On December 6, 1992, lakhs of karsevaks had gathered near the mosque and demolished the archival building. The incident had triggered communal riots across the country leaving thousands dead.
