Secret Casino In South Delhi Farmhouse Busted! 30 Arrested

An illegal gambling casino at a farmhouse spread over 13 acres in the heart of south Delhi on Dera Mandi Road in Fatehpur Beri was busted on Tuesday evening where around 10,000 chips worth several crores were recovered and 30 people were arrested.

The farmhouse was used as a set for the shooting of television serials and Bollywood movies but when it was not being used as a set, it became the scene for the rich and powerful of Delhi, Noida and Gurgaon to gamble for high stakes, ranging from lakhs to crores by playing roulette, blackjack and poker.

The vigilance branch of south Delhi, acting on a tip-off, swooped down on the casino on Tuesday evening, arresting 30 people, including 12 businessmen guests from Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida, 5 women bar tenders, the owner of the property, dealers and organisers. Along with the tokens worth crores, illegal liquor and 13 sedans have also been seized.

To cater to its high profile clientele, the organisers served exclusive high-end whiskies and employed female bartenders from Kathmandu. Entry to the secret casino was restricted and only a closed Whatsapp group and word of mouth spread the word of the dates and times of the functioning of the casino.

As casinos are legal only in Goa, Daman and Sikkim and a few months back a similar illegal casino in South Delhi's Sainik Farms and Vasant Kunj areas was busted by cops.

"Around 11 pm, the cops entered the farmhouse and found many people gambling on four big tables. The gamblers were being facilitated by the organisers and attendants. A raid was subsequently conducted and the people detained," said Ishwar Singh, DCP (south).
