As Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was lodged in prison after being convicted in a 15-year-old rape case by a special CBI court, he requested the court and jail authorities to let his adopted daughter Honeypreet stay with him.

While the CBI court pawned off the decision over to jail authorities, the prison citing the 'jail manual' denied the request saying that it does not allow a male convict to be accompanied by a woman companion.

Honeypreet's reason for staying with Ram Rahim in jail was that she was required as she is an acupressure expert and her leader was suffering from an acute migraine and backache.

Honeypreet in the third and adopted daughter of Ram Rahim. According to her social media profiles, she is 'Papa's Pari' (Dad's Angel). Her original name was Priyanka Taneja which she changed after being adopted by the Dera chief in 2009.

She was earlier married to Vishwas Gupta, who sought a divorce from her in 2011 alleging that she had illicit relations with Ram Rahim Singh.

She has also declared herself as the rightful heir to Dera chief Ram Rahim on social media website Facebook while the spiritual leader had in 2007 anointed his son Jasmeet as his successor.

Honeypreet was also seen accompanying Ram Rahim during his hearing, then in the helicopter airlifting the Dera chief to prison. The jail authority also let the woman stay with Ram Rahim in the retiring room before he was taken to the barracks.

Reportedly, Dera chief lied to the jail authorities that the CBI court had given verbal approval to Honeypreet staying with him in the jail cell. When the jail officials rejected his request, Ram Rahim threatened of getting them suspended if they didn't listen to him.
