Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday visited ailing Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar in the state assembly in Panaji to inquire about his health and wished him a speedy recovery.

The meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Manohar Parrikar took place around noon and lasted 15 minutes.

The meeting between the two comes a day after Rahul Gandhi raked up a controversial audio clip in which a Goa minister is heard talking about how Manohar Parrikar boasted about having files related to the Rafale deal in his bedroom.

A leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar said that the meeting lasted for five minutes and the issue of 'Rafale audio tapes' was not discussed. "It was a private visit. That issue was not discussed. Rahul Gandhi could make an official trip to Goa next month."

While commenting on Rahul Gandhi's visit, Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that this was a personal visit but the Mahabharat on Rafale fighter jet controversy will continue.

The visit comes a day after the Congress leader alleged that the Goa chief minister is in possession of "explosive secrets" related to the Rafale defence deal which gives him power over Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Rafale deal has become controversial with the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress claiming that there are irregularities in the deal to purchase 36 Rafale fighter jets from a French company.

"It's obvious that the tapes are authentic & that Goa CM, Parrikar, is in possession of explosive RAFALE secrets, that gives him power over the PM," Rahul Gandhi had tweeted yesterday, talking about the controversial audio tape.
