The results of the most anticipating assembly elections have finally been declared and the supporters of Bhartiya Janata Party have got another reason to celebrate. The aggressive campaigning by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made people vote for his party but still failed to pass by the ruling party.

Gujarat Elections had become the battleground of prestige for the two parties and after losing the war, many anticipated the new Congress President to go MIA for a while, however, the leader shocked the entire nation when he openly accepted his defeat on the micro-blogging platform and congratulated BJP for winning the elections in both states.

Gandhi wrote, " The Congress party accepts the verdict of the people and congratulates the new governments in both states. I thank the people of Gujarat and Himachal with all my heart for the love they showed me."

Congress has undoubtedly re-surged as a more powerful and mature political party in these elections as proved by their campaigning strategies and power of acceptance. The party supporters have also competed with head held high instead of stooping to a lower level.

Despite being defeated, Gandhi didn't resort to foul cry but rather appreciated his team of campaigners for their support and courage. In another tweet, he wrote, " My Congress brothers and sisters, you have made me very proud. You are different than those you fought because you fought anger with dignity. You have demonstrated to everyone that the Congress’s greatest strength is its decency and courage."

Following the election results clearance, BJP President Amit Shah and Union Minister Smriti Irani expressed their joy over winning elections in both the states. PM Narendra Modi, who campaigned for the party in his home state and Himachal Pradesh also took her happiness to Twitter.

Bloating about his ministers' hard work, PM Modi tweeted, " Election results in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh indicate a strong support for politics of good governance and development. I salute the hardworking BJP Karyakartas in these states for their hard work which has led to these impressive victories."

He further wrote, " I bow to the people of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh for their affection and trust in BJP. I assure them that we will leave no stone unturned in furthering the development journey of these states and serve the people tirelessly."
