Priyanka Gandhi Kick Starts 3- Day UP Poll Campaign With 140 Km Long ‘Ganga Yatra’ To Varanasi

The Congress’s eastern UP in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrived in Prayagraj today to kick-start her Ganga Yatra boat rally to Varanasi after meeting party workers, madrasa teachers, and Anganwadi workers at the party’s Lucknow office on Sunday.

She will take a three-day, 140 km long ‘Ganga yatra’ on a steamer boat from March 18-22 from Chhatnag in Prayagraj to Assi Ghat in Varanasi.

After praying at the Bade Hanuman Mandir, Priyanka Gandhi arrived at Triveni Sangam and offered prayers here before beginning her water rally. She then performed puja at the Hanuman Temple then she reached Triveni Sangam where she officially launched her campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

With the hope of reviving political fortunes of the Congress in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka has undertaken this three-day trip in Purvanchal called 'Saanchi Baat'. "The holy Ganga is symbolic for truth and equality. The people of this state depend on the Ganges and I will depend on Ganga too to connect to you," Priyanka had written in an open letter to the people.

Priyanka Gandhi is also expected to focus on campaigning against the BJP government's claims and promises over a cleaned up the Ganges through this on-going rally. She will also meet the family of CRPF soldier Mahesh Raj Yadav who lost his life in the Pulwama terror attack of February 14.

Uttar Pradesh will vote in all seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled from 11 April to 19 May. The counting of votes will take place on 23 May.
