In the iconic victory of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has proved majority in the states and is all ready to form respective governments soon. However, the political party is undecided at the name of Himachal's Cheif Minister candidate due to the loss of their first choice Prem Kumar Dhumal in Sujanpur to his own protégé turned bête-noir Rajendra Rana.

The former CM was the only recognised face of the political party in the state and finding his replacement would turn out to be a task for BJP ministers. Many are claiming that the party's strategy by announcing their Cheif Minister candidate beforehand has backfired and turned out to be embarrassing for the party workers.

Sweeping the elections from Congress by claiming 44 out of 68 assembly seats in Himachal, BJP is in a celebratory mood and is unwilling to dampen their spirits by discussing the bitter topics. The party has postponed the weekly meeting of party MPs which takes place every Tuesday to Wednesday. The meeting will provide a platform for the central observers to oversee the naming of chief ministers.

While Vijay Rupani's selection as Gujarat Cheif Minister once again is almost certain after he won his seat by a margin of 25,000 votes against his Congress rival Indranil Rajguru, the name to lead Himachal Pradesh is still under wraps. Reports are suggesting that the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda and the former cabinet minister Jai Ram Thakur are the frontrunners in the race of CM post.

There are chances that Dhumal would not be very happy with the development as he initially wanted to contest elections from his home turf Hamirpur but was asked to contest from a constituency near his own, Sujanpur where he lost against an independent candidate. The selection for a new face in Himachal Pradesh would undoubtedly be challenging and the nation can't wait for the drama to unfold.
