Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi resorts to personal attacks and character assassination when he is desperate. Gandhi was speaking in a public meeting in Bidar, Karnataka as part of his Jan Ashirwad Yatra.

“I never resort to personal attacks. Instead, I ask questions. Questions PM Modi doesn't answer.” Gandhi added.

Advising the Prime Minister, Gandhi said that the PM should tell the people of Karnataka his plans for the state instead of making personal attacks which would not get him votes.

Calling the Karnataka elections a contest between two ideologies, Gandhi said that on one hand there is Congress with the ideology of unity, compassion & an inclusive Karnataka while on the other there was BJP-RSS with the ideology of hatred & division.

“The BJP-RSS duo doesn't care about Karnataka's aspirations, it only cares about polarising people to win elections,” Gandhi said.

Talking about the achievements of Siddaramaiah Government in the state, Gandhi said, “Five years ago the Congress Government was formed in Karnataka. Read the manifesto we had made at that time. I can gladly say that we have fulfilled more than 90% of the promises we made.”

He then went ahead to compare the promises made by PM Modi. “He promised to give 15 lac rupees to every Indian but instead of doing that demonetized Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes. Instead of giving money, he even extracted money from farmers, workers and small businesses and that money went to Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksy who fled to London with their suit-boot.”

“Modi ji calls Mehul Choksy as Mehul Bhai, they know each other. Modi Ji gives long speeches but does not talk about them. He shares the stage with Jailbird Yeddyurappa and four others and ironically announces that he is fighting corruption.”

Comparing Reddy Brothers to the characters from the film Sholay, Gandhi said that the Prime Minister was trying to unleash his ‘Gabbar Singh Gang” upon Karnataka.

“You are trying to send the entire gang of jailbirds Reddy brothers to the Karnataka Assembly and then you claim to the nation that you are fighting against corruption?” he questioned PM Modi.

The Congress President said the amount of money that Reddy brothers stole from the people of Karnataka was equal to the amount that UPA Government spent in MGNREGA
