Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah soon after BJP leader Yeddyurappa tendered his resignation ahead of the floor test in the Karnataka Assembly.

Beginning his press conference, Gandhi said BJP MLAs and the speaker walked out of the house while the National anthem was being played.

“Did you notice that after the exercise at the Vidhan Sabha in Karnataka, the BJP legislators decided to get up and leave before the National Anthem was played? This is what we are fighting today. The idea that you can rubbish every single institution, you can disrespect every individual simply because you are in power,” Gandhi said.

There is no institution that is worthy of respect of Modi, Shah and RSS. The BJP disrespected the mandate of the people of Karnataka, Goa Manipur and it tried to subvert democracy in Karnataka. That's what we fought against,” he further added.

Calling the Prime Minister a corrupt person, Gandhi said the PM has authorised buying and purchase of MLAs. There are phone conversations of MLAs being attempted to be purchased by BJP directly authorised by PM.

“We have shown them that the will of the people in the country can't be tarnished. You have seen how PM Modi had authorized the buying of MLAs in Karnataka. PM Modi doesn't just indulge in corruption, he is corruption,” he said.

During the Press Conference, Rahul Gandhi said opposition parties will unitedly defeat BJP and Narendra Modi.

“PM Modi has to understand that he's not bigger than the country, the democracy and the people of India,” Gandhi said.
