The statement of two 'sadhvis' before the special CBI court in the rape case hearing against spiritual leader Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh revealed the horror that went on in the Dera Sacha Sauda (DSS) headquarter in Haryana's Sirsa.

According to a report in a leading media outlet, Dera Chief Ram Rahim used to rape his women followers in his 'gufa' (his personal chamber in the headquarter).

"Only female disciples were deployed to guard Ram Rahim's underground living quarters. 'Maafi' (Pardon) was the code word used among disciples to describe rapes," the media outlet quoted the statement as saying.

One of the rape survivor who hailed from Haryana's Yamuna Nagar, in her statement on February 28, 2009, told the CBI court judge A K Verma that she started living in the Dera in July 1999 after her brother was allegedly killed seeking justice for his sister.

"I did not understand when other female disciples used to ask me if I had been 'granted maafi by pitaji' until I was raped by Gurmeet on August 28/29 1999, inside the gufa," the report quoted the Sadhvi's saying.

Another Dera sadhvi said that she was also called in the 'gufa' and raped by Ram Rahim. She told the court that he even threatened her not to tell anyone of the crime.

The CBI court held Dera Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty of rape in the 15-year-old case and withheld the sentence for Monday hearing. He has been arrested and lodged into Rohtak prison in Haryana.
