The Monsoon Session of Parliament officially begins on Monday, however, due to death of sitting members in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, both the Houses will be adjourned and proceedings will begin from Tuesday.

Violence by cow vigilantes has become a disturbing trend and is expected to become a major topic of discussion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, addressing an all-party meeting, placed the onus on the respective state governments, calling on them to take measures against self-proclaimed cow vigilantes.

PM Modi said, "India's image is being affected by these acts. State governments should take stern action such anti-social elements."

The implementation and fall-out over the recently launched Goods and Services Tax (GST) are also expected to feature in the Parliament discussions. Before the rollout of GST on July 1, Opposition parties had protested claiming that the nation was not ready for GST.

The Monsoon Session of Parliament comes in the wake of a rare unity displayed by the Opposition in selecting candidates for the President and Vice President elections respectively. The Opposition is likely to maintain its united front during the parliamentary proceedings.

The government meanwhile has a series of legislations to be passed in Parliament.

PM Modi, ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, said: "I hope the Monsoon Session will see constructive discussions keeping in mind the value of time, resources and honour of the Parliament."
