Pak Opens Fire Along LoC, 2 Killed

Indian and Pakistani troops, on Saturday morning, traded heavy fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, killing two civilians and injuring another two.

The Pakistani Army began indiscriminate firing and shelling on Indian posts along the LoC in Gulpur area. The Defence Ministry Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta told media outlets, “The firing which started from 6.30 a.m., is ongoing and our forces are effectively retaliating.”

While the heavy fire has claimed the lives of two civilians, 2 children were also injured amidst the shelling from the other side of the border. Three soldiers have also been reportedly injured after some terrorists attacked an army patrol in Bandipora district.

The Police said, “The victims comprised an off-duty soldier and his wife. The couple's two children were also injured when a shell fired from across the border hit their house on the LoC in Gulpur area.”

This development comes the s situation in the valley are already critical, with authorities having to shut internet service in the valley for an indefinite time.

India is also engaged in a stand-off with the Chinese military in Doklam area after Indian troops obstructed the construction of a Chinese road in the disputed area.
