Senior Karnataka Police Officer, D Roopa whose report exposed Sasikala’s VIP treatment in jail, on Friday said that the government was ‘singling her out for action’ on grounds that she has spoken to the media.

The officer in a report to Karnataka government had alleged that AIADMK chief VK Sasikala was enjoying VIP facilities in the Bengaluru prison. The report speculated that Sasikala had paid a sum of Rs 2 crores for this privileged treatment.

The officer's report, however, was leaked out creating a huge outrage, therefore forcing the Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah to announce an inquiry into her controversial findings.

A day later, the Chief Minister, pointing that service rules don't allow officials to talk to the media, said that actions could be taken against her.

Ms. Roopa in asserting that she didn’t leak the report or talk to the media of the controversial subject said, ‘this isn’t fair’. She added, “If conduct rules apply to me, it applies to everyone. You cannot have, show me the face, I will show you the rule.”

Instead, she alleged that it was her boss, the state's Director General of Prisons HN Satyanarayana Rao who had spoken about the contents.

She said the government is free to inquire into the report’s leaking.

Satyanarayana Rao has called her allegations "wild and baseless". No special treatment is being given to Sasikala.

Sasikala has been in jail since February this year, serving a four-year jail sentence for corruption.

Rao said pointed out that he noticed Abdul Karim Telgi, who has been jailed over a multi-crore stamp paper fraud, enjoying some favours. I have recorded in the books and asked the prison officials to withdraw it," he said.
