RJD Chief Lalu Yadav is meeting each of his legislators in his party home after attending a party meeting to clear that his son and Deputy Minister of the state is not resigning from his position over the corruption charges.
In these meetings with his legislators, Lalu asked his MLAs to disregard the rumours of deteriorating relations between the RJD Chief and Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He also asked them to ensure that people attend the opposition's upcoming ‘mega anti-BJP’ rally planned next month.
Reportedly, Tejashwi Yadav's announcement that he will not resign had upset Nitish Kumar, who is yet to publically speak on the CBI raids on Lalu Yadav and his family members.
Lalu Yadav has asked the party leaders to avoid interactions with the media while the party awaits Nitish’s next move.
The Bihar Chief Minister has canceled his weekly public meeting and is expected to speak on the issue at a Party meeting in Patna on Tuesday. The Congress also took a stand saying that its CM Nitish’s decision whether or not Tejashwi Yadav continues as his Deputy CM.
Nitish Kumar has also denied attending a Delhi meeting to be chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to select a Vice-President candidate for the joint opposition. He has sent senior party leader Sharad Yadav to attend the meeting in his place.
The rumours have it that the JDU Chief might reconsider his political alignment in views of the CBI raids. Nitish has already taken some wild decisions in the past weeks, endangering his alignment with the other opposition parties by backing the BJP's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind. While the Congress didn’t respond to his decision Lalu Yadav had a bursting response to the JDU chief’s support to the BJP candidate.
