Nitish led Janata Dal (United), on Saturday removed senior leader Sharad Yadav as the party's leader in the upper house of the Parliament, fielding RCP Singh to replace him as their new Rajya Sabha member.

The JDU MPs, on Saturday, met the Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, handing him the letter, appointing Mr RCP Singh as their leader in the upper house, told a party leader.

JD(U) leader RCP Singh enjoys the full confidence of Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) Chief Nitish Kumar.

Party's move to replace senior leader Sharad Yadav in Rajya Sabha came after the leader started a rebellion against the JD(U) Chief and head on attacked him for abandoning the grand alliance and joining hands with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

On Friday as well, the Bihar Chief Minister had cracked down on JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav for going against the party's decision saying he should accept the party's decision or he is free to go wherever he wants.

"Party has taken a decision with everyone's consensus, he is free to make his own decisions," he has added.

The JDU had also suspended its Rajya Sabha member Ali Anwar Ansari from the upper house of the Parliament after he attended an opposition meeting organised by the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

The relations between Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav started deteriorating after the JD(U) chief decided to leave the Bihar grand alliance with RJD and Congress to join forces with BJP in forming the government in the state as RJD Chief Lalu Yadav and his family members, including former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, faced corruption charges.
