Nitish Kumar has once again been sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Thursday morning after he resigned suddenly on Wednesday evening, despite extensive protests by the RJD.

Ending the grand alliance formed with RJD and Congress, Nitish has now allied with BJP and was sworn-in along with former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi who has taken oath as the new Bihar Deputy CM.

According to reports, Kumar met with Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on late Wednesday night accompanied by NDA leaders and staked the claim to form the government with the support of 132 MLAs belonging to JD-U, BJP, LJP, RLSP, HAM and two independents.

RJD leaders led by Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav conducted extensive protests claiming that since the RJD is the single largest party in Bihar, they should be invited to form the government first.

"We are going to Raj Bhavan. We are going to Governor house to stage the dharna if not called for being the single largest party," Tejashwi said.

Nitish Kumar resigned on Wednesday claiming he can't work in the "current circumstances" following corruption charges against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, bringing to an end the 20-month grand alliance coalition formed in Bihar defeating the BJP in 2015.
