NIA Raids: Letter Revealing Link Between Geelani And Afzal Guru Recovered

In a huge revelation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recovered a letter from the residence of Geelani's son-in-law Altaf Ahmad Shah, when the sleuth was conducting a raid on the premises in suspected involvement in terror funding.

During their raids, the NIA found a letter from Afzal Guru which was addressed to Syed Ali Shah Geelani seeking help to be transferred to the Central jail in Srinagar from Delhi's Tihar.

Afzal Guru, wrote in the letter, "I request you to ask Omar Abdullah Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir to replies to the Supreme Court notice about jail transfer issue instead of talking about passing the resolution in the Assembly which he do not need at all."

Guru had written this letter to the Hurriyat leader before his execution in Tihar jail on February 9, 2013.

The NIA had registered a case against the Hurriyat leader on May 30, after which they executed various raids in the Jammu and Kashmir area. The NIA also conducted a raid on Geelani's close aide Devender Singh Behal's residence in Jammu. The investigation agency recovered four mobile phones, a tablet and other electronic devices along with some incriminating documents.

The NIA had earlier questioned and arrested Altaf Ahmad Shah.
