A woman was molested by a man on board a local train plying from Thane to Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station late on Thursday night. The accused has been arrested from the Dadar station and the case has now been registered, Police said.

A disturbing graphic video of the incident which went viral shows a man pouncing on the woman sitting on the opposite seat in the handicapped compartment. He drags her by the hair and attempts to strangle her. He also tore off her clothes even as other co-commuters raised an alarm to alert a policeman in the adjoining compartment of the speeding train.

The accused has been identified as Rafiq Khan who owed some money from the lady following which they had an alteration in the train. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. where a handicapped commuter on an adjoining seat shot the video of the entire incident.

According to Senior Inspector Nitin Bobde, the woman had lend money to her attacker on a friendly basis as she had known him over a few years. Late on Thursday, they caught the suburban train from Dombivali, Thane bound for CSMT and en route, the victim demanded her money back from Khan and asked him to stop harassing her. Apparently angered by this, Khan abused, molested and attacked her in full public view even as the train was approaching Dadar station.
