Lalu Yadav came out in public on Friday, attacking the BJP leadership after the CBI conducted raids on his residence early morning. The Bihar leader dismissed the charges against him saying that no wrong was done in the tendering during his tenure.

Calling the raids ‘BJP’s conspiracy’ the senior leader presumably warned the BJP that he and his party will not be cowed down.

In a statement to the media, the RJD Chief said, “The raids were done to insult and humiliate me. The ruling party wants to strike down the opposition by sending CBI, IT departments, by incarcerating anyone who speaks out against them.”

Lalu Yadav has been charged for allegedly granting illegal favours to Sujata Hotels through IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) during his tenure as the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009.

Lalu Yadav said CBI should not have gone to his residence in his absence. He added that it was not the right thing to do.

The CBI on Friday filed a corruption case and carried out raids at the residences of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri and son Tejashwi Yadav, for alleged irregularities in leasing two railway hotels to a private company when he was the Railways Minister. The CBI carried out multiple raids over a dozen locations, including the residences of Lalu Prasad and his family members in Delhi, Gurugram, Patna, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar.

CBI Additional Director Rakesh Asthana said that the private company was favoured and the tender process for the development, maintenance, and operation of the hotels in Ranchi and Puri was manipulated in exchange for a three-acre land plot in Patna where a mall is being built.

The former Bihar CM said that Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and RSS are behind these raids. He said he got the information of the raids through the television. He added that he will do everything to remove Narendra Modi-led government (from the centre).
