A week after posters were put up that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was 'missing' in his constituency of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, similar posters have surfaced in Rae Bareli terming his mother, Congress President Sonia Gandhi as 'missing'.

Dozens of posters surfaced overnight at the Gora Bazaar and Government Colony in Mahanandpur, Rae Bareli, which described their Lok Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi as "missing" along with "a reward for anyone who can locate her".

On the posters was written that "it was released by the people of Rae Bareli" who were feeling cheated by the absence of their parliamentary representative.

The Sonia Gandhi 'Missing' posters were promptly removed by Congressmen in Rae Bareli. Local Congress leaders alleged that the BJP and RSS were behind the posters.

A Congress leader was quoted as saying, "this was a campaign by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)".

District president of the Congress in Amethi, Yogendra Mishra alleged that the "saffron camp was behind such baseless posters".

Sonia Gandhi, currently busy rallying together the Opposition parties since the end of the Parliament Monsoon Session, has not visited her parliamentary constituency of Rae Bareli this year, while Rahul last visited his constituency of Amethi in February when he was campaigning for Congress candidates during the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Citing ill health, Sonia Gandhi had missed out on the UP campaigning earlier this year.
