Mann Ki Baat: Ahead Of National Unity Day, PM Modi Says, Children Are The Leaders Of New India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuing with his tradition of addressing the Indian masses directly once a month through his radio telecast 'Mann Ki Baat' spoke on Sunday, ahead of the National Unity Day on October 31, highlighting that children are the leaders of new India.

"Chhath Puja is about worshiping the nature. Sun and water are at the centre of Mahaparva Chhath. This Puja is related to environment. It is also related to Clean India mission," said PM Modi.

"Surya Vandana is the festival of environment protection, discipline, and freedom from disease," said PM.

"I was deeply honoured to spend my Diwali with our security forces. Celebrating Diwali with soldiers in J&K's Gurez has been an unforgettable experience for me. I salute them," PM Modi said.

"Our security forces are involved in many peace-keeping missions around the world. Currently 7,000 soldiers Indian troops are deployed with UN peacekeeping initiatives, it's third highest in the world. Our role is not confined to peacekeeping operations. India also trains peacekeepers of 85 countries," he said.

"Our belief of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and our contribution to world peace. The UN declaration of Human Rights is testimony to India's push for gender equality," PM Modi said.

"Yesterday was 150th birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita. She helped in re-establishing pride in Indian culture. She travelled to various countries raised her voice against mischievous propaganda against SanatanDharma, ideology," says PM Modi.

"Many felicitations to all children on Childrens Day celebrated on birthday of our first PM Jawaharlal Nehru ji. I would like family to inculcate in children habit of playing in open grounds," he said.

PM Modi congratulated India on the performance in the fields of sports.

"After 10 years India won Asia Cup. I congratulate entire team and the support staff. I congratulate Shuttler Kidambi Srikanth for winning Denmark Open and for making India proud," said PM Modi.

"FIFA U17 WorldCup was organised this month, teams from all over world came to India. The world cup was successfully organised, all teams performed their best. Regardless of the fact that India could not win the title, the young players of India won the hearts of everyone. I extend felicitations on behalf of the entire nation to the entire team and support staff," he said.

"A NGO called Ecological Protection OrganiSation launched a cleanliness campaign in Chandrapur Fort. In this campaign lasting for 200 days, people performed task of cleaning fort, non-stop, without any fatigue and with team-work. They sent me photographs with a caption- ‘Before and After'. I was overwhelmed on seeing these," PM Modi said.

"Guru Nanak Dev ji undertook 28 thousand kilometre journey on foot and throughout the journey spread the message of true humanity. He entered into dialogue with people and showed them path of truth, sacrifice and dedication, advocated message of equality in society," he said.

"He ran LANGAR which sowed seeds of spirit of service amongst fellow beings. Partaking of LANGAR together created feeling of unity. Guru Nanak Dev ji voiced three messages for meaningful, fulfilling life- Chant the name of Almighty, work hard and help the needy. Come 2019, we are going to celebrate 550th PRAKASH VARSH of Guru Nanak ji," the PM continued.

"We shall celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel ji on the 31st of October. Sardar Patel’s specialty was immensely capable of devising practical solutions to the most complicated problems in the way," PM Modi said.

"One ideal of Sardar Patel will always be inspiring to all. He had said “No division of caste or creed should be able to stop us. These lofty ideals of Sardar Sahab are relevant to and inspiring for our vision for a New India, even today. And that is why his birthday is celebrated as National Unity Day," he said.

"On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Sardar Sahab, Run for Unity will be organised throughout the country. I urge you to participate in the festival of mutual harmony," said PM Modi.
